Problems with clearing Netteller cheque. Can anyone help?
I'm based in the UK (Northern Ireland) and have had Neteller for a while without any problem. Account currency is in US$ and for a while all cheques arrived in US$ from Canada? (not UK anyway) costing $20 for fedex delivery. The last cheque requested arrived from Neteller UK (nothing to do with me, just happened automatically) and only cost $2 admin - VG. Lodged it and for the first time it came back uncleared. Money taken back out of my account and I was charged £6 for the privilege. Apparently the cheque was a "US$ cheque drawn on a sterling account". My bank who did all they could even phoned their International clearing bank who confirmed the cheque could not be cleared indictaing the cheque should either be in £strerling or if in $US should have the name of a US clearing bak on the face of it as well as the English bank in question (Barclays).
Anyway Neteller are looking into it and will come back to me in approximately 2 business days. Needless to say I'm not to happy (not about delay but that this is indicative of a problem and I have a cheque which can't be deposited or cashed). Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks |

Re: Problems with clearing Netteller cheque. Can anyone help?
No solution here but I can suggest the problem. Neteller has recently launched its multi-currency options and I am guessing the problem is being caused by poor management of the switch-over. Neteller support, although slow are also reasonably competent, so I expect it will be sorted out eventually.
I hope this isn't why my cheque has taken so long to clear, was yours in $USD? When did you request it? |

Yip, the cheque was in $US and was requested middle of February (the cheque itself is dated 18th February 2004). Bank accepted it OK at teim but was returned to me by post uncleared yesterday.

Re: Problems with clearing Netteller cheque. Can anyone help?
Funny, I'm thinking some debits I made (which were removed from my bank account on Monday) should be cleared of my Neteller account by now and they haven't.....this seems longer than normal.

Re: Neteller cheque still won\'t clear. UK users be careful.
Still having problems. Customer support insist they cannot talk to me but will email UK support who will contact me which they haven't. Spoke to Neteller again today (five days since first conversation) and told the same thing. Basically can't get anyone to try and sort this out. Given previous dealings with Neteller were all fine I don't think this is a scam or anything, more like a glitch since they started drawing cheques in the UK. Nevertheless its a glitch which has left me with a useless cheque and no attempt to sort the matter by Neteller who as far as I can see are avoiding the issue.
Has anyone else had this problem or indeed has anyone in UK successfully drawn from Neteller in last two weeks. Anyone else in UK I would advise to be careful with Neteller until this is sorted or otherwise you risk receiving a cheque you can't cash as well. Might be better to request a cheque directly from the sites in the interim to be safe. |

Re: Problems with clearing Netteller cheque. Can anyone help?
I've recieved $US cheques from Intercasino which are issued by a UK bank(NatWest). Barclays cash them although they charge more than for a normal $US cheque.

Nearly sorted out. Good news for European Neteller users in future?
Finally got through to UK neteller support today and they telephoned me directly back. Was very happy with their response so far and hopefully everything should be sorted out early next week.
On a more positive note it appears that there should be a number of positive changes over the next few weeks for european customers including finally being able to link a european bank account directly to your neteller account, avoiding the need for cheques altogether. Secondly, apparently pokerstars (and I would presume other sites would follow suit) will be offering alternative currency account options in the future which would then mean you could change the account currency of your neteller account and avoid the need for foreign exchange commission etc when withdrawing from neteller in the future. |
