Pipe Smoking
I know people smoking cigars or cigarette can be taxing to say the least but pipe smoking is a civilized hobby that shouldn't be discouraged in Poker rooms.

Re: Pipe Smoking
I disagree, only because I recently developed some kind of alergic reaction to cigar smoke. It makes me turn green and I get dizzy to the point where I cannot play. It's not a big deal with so many rooms non-smoking but in some Vegas casinos it's bad. Pipe smoke, which I find pleasant, causes the same reaction for some people that I get with cigars.

Re: Pipe Smoking
Ryden,
Why not go to specialists and have them prescribe medication to solve the reaction. You may find yourself in a situation that can't be helped and have a stronger reaction than in the past. |

Re: Pipe Smoking
If smoking is banned, all forms should be. I hate it when cigars and pipes are banned but cigarettes arent. cigars are better second hand smoke IMO, even though first hand cigarette smoke is GR8. Pipes are sort of dorky but aren't bad second hand smoke. But I say either smoke free or total smoke pit. No in-between.

Re: Pipe Smoking
I make it a rule never to drive behind somebody smoking a pipe. While pipe smoking seems to be on the wane, those that still do it still seem to be so self-centered that the presence of other cars on the road is of no concern to them. Apparently, considering the foul habit "civilized" indicates that the presence of other people in the cardroom is also of no concern.

Re: Pipe Smoking
i agree you should be able to smoke sitting next to someone one foot away. only you should have to contain the smoke in a plastic bag over your head.
what bugs me is that i have to leave the table to go pee, when i could just go on the knee of the person sitting next to me. why is that discouraged in a poker room. |

Re: Pipe Smoking
I agree.
I like the ban on smoking in most cardrooms i've been to. and I'm a smoker. I love to smoke. I really like smoking at the table. but it's so bad for me, and the ban helps me take regular breaks from the table, as well as helps me to cut down on the amount i smoke when playing poker. i remember when the Hollywood in Aurora still allowed smoking at the table and i went through 3 packs in 16 hours at the table. |
