Two hands in fish-paradise
20/40$ live holdem, and I mean live. Due to a tourney close to where I live, my local casino was missing most regular (and sensible) players. Apart from my bro, there wasn't a single even average player. The saying: 'every two cards can win' was in the mind of each of our 7-8 opponents. Every hand got to the showdown and at least an average of 6-7 seen the flop, no matter wheter raised or not. It was like a 1/2$ table at vegas, apart from we were playing 20/40$. I broke even this night, despite the great opportunity, but may be too many fishes makin' it difficult again, especially when you don't get the necessary cards. Ok, enough defending/reasoning, two hands came up, where I'd like some comments. Mind the situation.
I'm in the BB and get A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], after everyone limps, I deceide to raise. Everyone calls. 9 players for two bets. Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet out, UTG raises me, a couple of folds to late MP who coldcalls, another coldcall by the cutoff and I threebet. UTG caps, MP coldcalls, cutoff folds, I call. 16 Big Bets Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, UTG bets, MP calls, I call. 19 Big bets River: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, UTG checks, MP bets, I call, UTG calls. Results in white: UTG had KJ off, MP had Ac Jc and I drag the pot How was my play, too agressive on the flop? Too passive on the river? Second hand: I get A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the cutoff. After my bro open raises UTG (and that means he has a real hand), there are about 5 coldcalls and I threebet. Everyone calls. 7 to the flop for three small bets. Flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] My bro bets out, everyone calls and I raise with a numb feeling in my stomach due to that pair on the board. My bro threebets and two stay in for three bets apart from me. Four players to the turn, pot about 16 or 17 Big bets. Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Bro bets, EP calls, MP calls, and I call too, still with a numb feeling. River: J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] My bro bets, EP now raises, MP coldcalls and I muck disgusted. Bro reraises, EP caps, MP mucks. Results again in white: bro had QQ and EP had JJ Was I too passive on the turn? Or was my play ok? All comments appreciated. |

Re: Two hands in fish-paradise
"I'm in the BB and get A K , after everyone limps, I deceide to raise. Everyone calls. 9 players for two bets."
Nice dodge of the crime against humanity. How was my play, too agressive on the flop? Too passive on the river? No and no (I'm surprised you ask about the river. You should be elated to have won this pot, but, more importantly, you demonstrated why one shouldn't fear monsters and fold for a single bet in a huge pot since someone bet into two opponents with (recall mike l. 75s) four hearts on the board). . . hand 2: "Was I too passive on the turn? Or was my play ok?" Easy raise on the turn. The numb feeling should have gone away after it was only one bet to you. the last person in the hand you should be worried about is you brother. He doesn't have an 8, unless he has two, but, more likely, a smaller overpair. with two callers in between and a flush and potential straight draws (they have anything, right?) you have to raise here. . . |
