I was there about three years ago, just played blackjack though. If you have ever been to LV you will be very disappointed in Reno. My meetings finished early and I got to the table about 2PM. No offense meant to anyone...but everyone else at the table seemed to be playing on either welfare or social security checks. It got really depressing watching people play money they really didnt have. There were almost no tourists, although on the up side I suddenly felt like a high roller !

For the most part, Reno's a sh!thole. Watch Reno911 on Comedy Central for the "who, what, when, where" questions you're looking for.

For the most part Reno is great!!! Do a search in B&M. There are lots of post that talk about the card rooms and other things to do outside of casinos. For the money you can't beat tournaments at the Hilton. A big one is coming up March 18 to April 1st. Check out World Poker Challenge.

I went to the Peppermill a few years back and I am going to the Hilton in a few weeks. The tournies are pretty good.

I didn't really stray from the Peppermill so I am not sure about the rest of the Poker scene in Reno.

Was there last month.

I liked the Eldorado poker room the best. They had the most games, the best games and they go on all night. It's smoking though.

The Peppermill has a nice non-smoking poker room. Comfortable chairs, good lighting. They had a 15/30, a 2/4 and a 4/8 game going. John Asquagas Nugget also had a nice enough room too with low limit games. I've heard that the Hilton is good but have not given it a try yet.

I've stayed at Peppermill and Circus Circus. Both were ok. In downtown Reno the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus are all part of a 3 block complex filled with casinos, restaurants, nightclubs, bars, etc... Next time I'm there I'll probably stay in the Eldorado and get the poker room rate.

Good Italian restaurant on Virginia just S of downtown: Lucianos

Basque place on 4th I think: Louis Basque Corner. A very good Vietnamese restaurant called the Golden Flower is just one block from Virginia st. South of ~ Silver Legacy.

Check out: http://www.cheapotravel.com/reno/index.php

A couple of nice drives are out to Virginia City and also up to Lake Tahoe...

Enjoy.

That sounds like downtown Vegas, where the skidrow bums and cabbies gather at the low limit tables.......
