This hand was played at Thursday night's Pokerstars session. Jay! had complained earlier that the table was going loose passive, and had also complained that "no one is bluff reraising enough" preflop. I had stolen the blinds a couple of times and shown my hand each time, as was customary. The previous hand, Gift of Gab had raised UTG with Js2s and won the blinds uncontested.
Blinds .25/.50. I have $46, Jay! has me covered. Folded to me on the button with Jd 2d. I make it 2.50. SB folds, Jay! reraises to to 9 from BB. I make it 20 (11 more). Jay! calls. Flop is Ts Ks 7c. Jay! checks. I push in for 26. He folds; I show. After the hand, he said he had 42 suited. Comments? |

I thought Jay! limped UTG, that's why this hand particularly amazed me. Did I just imagine that?

This just looks like stupid play on both sides. Hard to say who was worse, they were both so bad.

The hand history confirms that Jay! was in the BB.

Fair enough. Obviously the whole thing was reckless. Actually the play that amazed me the most was Jay!'s call of my preflop reraise. Is that defensible given the pot odds?

This just looks like stupid play on both sides. Hard to say who was worse, they were both so bad. [/ QUOTE ] Why was Felson's play bad? They got into a psychological battle, and Felson won. He made a play at it to start with, then Jay! replayed him, and Felson read him for this and then Felson REPLAYED Jay! and won. Seems like Felson played it strong. danny |

I agree with Ulysses. There isn't a chance in the world that either plays the pot that way in a "real" game.

This wasn't a "real" game in the sense that in a typical online game, with exceptions, you don't know that much about your opponents and their play (Thank you, pokertracker). In this game, however, there were several factors at work.
#1)These players knew each other to be 2+2ers, which provides a good bit of information into your opponents' likely play. #2) We were showing all uncalled hands, which revealed the game to be the naked bluff-fest that it often was. #3) There was some ego at work here, as can be expected when 2+2ers get together at a small buy-in table. What are you going to post about later, that smart laydown you made when you got caught stealing, or the wicked re-re-bluff you put on a fellow poster? #4) We were having fun, too. Will you find this play in the next Sklansky/Malmuth poker bible? No. Was it understandable given the game's unique nature? Yeah. All that said: Now that this hand had been posted, there's going to be a huge turnout next game, trying to get ahold of all that dead money. |

It was 4am and i was drunk, i blame that, heh.
Anyhow, it's of course an easy fold preflop and just wait for a better spot. I'm thinking of getting this game going tonight at the same time as well. I'll make a thread and see if anyone is interested. |
