I'm not quite sure why I played this hand in the way I did, but I was wondering if my check-call was correct on any street.
.5/1 I'm dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in EP. Folded to me, I raise, MP calls, SB calls. Flop Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB checks, I check, MP bets, we both call. Turn T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked to MP who bets, we both call. River 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked to MP who bets, we both call. Comments? |

I'm pretty sure i'd of raised the flop with TPTK and a nut flush draw. If he 3bets, get worried about two pair, otherwise, upping him.

I would have just bet/raised this all the way. I guess there are few free cards that can beat you, and you probably won the maximum this time, but there's usually no reason not to bet/raise at every opportunity against these types, they'll call. I certainly hope you werent worried about being beaten.

I don't see any reason not to raise the flop here. There are plenty of places where check-calling may be correct, but this is not one of them.

OK, so you checked the flop. Let's pretend that's not an issue. Why in the world didn't you raise the turn?

If you don't raise the flop, then raise the turn;
If you don't raise the turn, then raise the river; If you don't raise the river...then get out of my face |

MP turns over QT for the turned two pair, only to lose on the river with the paired board. SB mucks and my hand is good.
Well, I guess the consensus is pretty clear here, . The funny thing is that my worst problem is generally overplaying marginal hands. If I remember correctly, my check-call on the flop had something to do with a crazy slow play idea on my part against only two players and a relatively small pot, with me having a lot of redraws. Misguided I'm sure but that's what the flop was about. The turn was the most inexcusable in my opinion. Why I didn't bet/raise here is beyond me. On the river, I chickened out with the paired board and decided to play the wuss one last time. At least I got the SB to stick around (yeah yeah, he probably would have anyway). Thanks for the input guys! |
