Default AKo hand playstation

at playstation NY, PL, I have $500 exactly. I know very little but just sat down. I think EP is not smart, but that's the only read I have thus far.

$5 limp in EP. I raise to $20. Idiot calls, BB calls, limper calls. $80 in pot.

Flop is AQ3 rainbow. Limper bets $80. I raise $160.

standard?
I'm not used to PL

What are the stack sizes -- the limper that you're up against in particular.

Nicely played.
Im sure you folded all hands that you can beat.

There was no point in raising after homeboy bet the pot right off the bat.

I had $500. limper had $400. Idiot has $3K

He bet $80 on the flop.

I threw $320 in chips into the pot after that.

Default HAH! Alfonzo?!

your Avatar is just the kind of sociopathic delight I like to see in an online message board. Thank you, Rollaj.

Also, yes, it was alfonso. The one person 8 people were feeding off of.

he busted me with a gut-shot to the ass end of a straight getting 2:1 on his call. nice.

Also, this was my first PL hand ever. In addition to that, it's my first PL post ever. So I don't know what I'm doing.

In the previous few hands I had fumbled with chip amounts, raises, what not, and people were assuming I was a newbie, which was the case, but upon the $80 bet I flung $320 in the pot with remarkable accuracy, saying, "is that right? I'm new?" and the dealer said, "yah, you came up with that $320 pretty quick mister california."

Alfonso later showed the "kid from california," how they play poker on the east coast by calling my $250 bet with 43o on a board of 267r, when I had 99. He got there and was proud.

OK. $80 in the pot. Limper ($400) bets $80. You now raise to $320 straight. $480 in the pot now and you have $160 left. At this point, you're committed w/ TPTK on this board.

Idiot will now get to throw away a rag Ace. And limper can throw away something as good as AJ. So, you'll rarely get paid off. If one of these guys has AQ or a set, they'll raise and you'll toss in your last $160 (or $60 if it's limper). I don't see much benefit in raising here unless they're the types to call w/ any Ace in the face of a bet like that from a PFR.

If you call, idiot might call w/ a weak Ace or even come over the top (and you can then decide what to do). More importantly, in the most likely scenario that idiot folds, there's now $240 in the pot and limper has $300 left. So, you'll easily be able to get all the money in on the turn.

Given these stack sizes, since I'm not worried about being able to get all the money in when I have the best hand, I'll usually just call here. Idiot is already making a mistake if he calls w/ a gutshot here, but you could consider min-raising to really kill his odds if he's the type to call w/ a gutshot getting 2:1 and terrible implied odds.
