7 Card Stud Books...any I am missing?
I have too many poker books, most would say, but that is because I love to read about the game as much as play it. So, since I am branching out from Hold'em to 7 Card, I was looking to see if there are any good books I may be missing. I don't want EVERY book on 7 Card, but just the best and those that are good.
So far I have: 7 Card Stud for Adv. Players -- 21st How to Beat Low-Limit 7-Card Stud Poker -- by Kammen Winning 7-Card Stud -- by Ashley Adams 7 Card Stud -- Roy West Are there any other books worth adding? I don't mind "repeats" as long as they are not bad books on 7 Card. Thanks you guys! |

Throw away the West, Kammen, and Adams books if you're looking for legit literature.

Re: 7 Card Stud Books...any I am missing?
Seven Card Stud: The Waiting Game by George Percy is well thought of, though, it may be just for beginners as its credo appears to be 'play tight'.
Seven Card Stud by Konstantin Othmer is the 2nd Edition of a book originally entitled The Elements of Seven Card Stud. This book has been rated higher than SCSFAP21 by one reviewer. I do not know if it is that good but the second edition has been given a 7 by MM. Poker Essays, Poker Essays Vol II and Poker Essays Vol III all also have very good material on Seven Card Stud and should belong in your collection (as well as having topnotch information on Hold'em). They are all by MM. |

There may also be value in the Seven Card Stud section of Supersystem by Doyle Brunson. It is the one chapter that has withstood the test of time.

the othmer (sp?) book is quite good, but probably hard to find.
The stud section of super/system is also really good. al |

Re: 7 Card Stud Books...any I am missing?
7CS4AP and TOP should be all you ever need. I'd also recommend Mason's Essays books. The stud section in S/S is certainly worthwhile, and while I've never quite been able to wade my way through it, Othmer looks worthwhile as well.
Oh, did other people say all this already? |

Re: 7 Card Stud Books...any I am missing?
i cant think of any off hand but a good seven stud or omaha split book should be in your future. may not be totally applicable to seven stud but the plays are the same and thoughts may be interesting. you might be beyond trying to learn stuff from bad books.

Re: 7 Card Stud Books...any I am missing?
I am a poker newbie who plays exclusively online and have learned a lot from this forum. I am curious to know what is wrong with the West, Kammen and Adams books. While SCSFAP was the first book I bought, it is intentionally written for advanced, high-limit players. Most of the strategies are ineffective against the lower-limit "Hit to Win" players and given my lack of experience, the rest of the SCSFAP just gives me way too much to think about.
The West, Kammen (which are very similar) and Adams books would appear to be helpful for someone just starting out at lower levels. Please correct me if I'm wrong!!! Thanks. |
