Default simple pf question

party 2/4 table, you're dealt AQo in LMP. there is a raise and a 3 bet before you, both unknown players. fold, call, raise?

i folded, but was unsure if this was the right move.

fold is correct here as it is with hands like KQ, and 66-99. If you knew the players and they are the kind to raise with junk hands, then you should raise.

A call here is never correct

A fold is usually correct against one raise, against two it isn't close.

thanks for the response. that's pretty much what i was thinking, but since i would have won the hand when the flop came Q high i needed some help shaking those results-based second thoughts.

a player who cold called all 3 bets with Q8 won the huge pot. good ol' party.

More importantly, what did the raiser and the re-raiser hold, if they went to showdown?

I think it's safe to say that generally, barring a specific read on the re-raiser, with a raise and a re-raise, it's too likely that someone has AK, AA, KK, or QQ to stick around. Even if you hit your hand, you may still be behind.

I fold this without a second though unless
A) The raiser and reraiser consistently raise light
or
B) I know I can take the pot if the flop misses everyone.

Easy fold.

Fold it for 2-bets from the right opponent.

Peace,

I would defeinitely considering calling here. The raises could easily be AJ or KQ - even worse. A raise won't eliminate any more players, which is the goal with AQ.

If there was just one raise, I would defeinitely re-raise. So the fact that another player did it for you does not make it a fold IMO.

I just checked Lee Jones book - he says raise a raiser with AQo in MP - doesn't really get into whether the raise was was a re-raise.
