Default QQ hand

I'm just trying to patch up some leaks in my tournament game and was wondering about a hand I played today, here it is

Theres 5 players left, I'm UTG with $1940 holding QQ, the blinds are $100-$200, I raise to $700, hoping to take the blinds, the button with $1115 moves all in then the big blind with $2155 just calls. If it was just the button reraising all in I'd call all day but I really dont like the overcall from the big blind but I call and the flop comes rags, there is now $3345 in the pot and the big blind moves all in, making it $825 for me to continue, I call and lose to the big blinds cowboys.

I guess what I'm asking is would anyone fold the pair of queens here, if so where I dont think you can call the bet preflop if your not going to call on the flop.

If the button had 1200, so his reraise reopened the betting to you, would you push in?

Yes, I thought you might. So you need to call on the flop. Maybe you can fold if an ace comes, but not usually.

I know a Joe G... is that you?

Guy.

Hi Guy, yup it is me, small world isnt it. How are you doing lately, have you got through that bad run ok? it seems to have rubbed off on me, it looks like I'm going to be chalking up a loosing month

it wasnt the button that bothered me, it was the big blinds cold call of $1115, that just screamed aces or kings, and like you say once I'd called preflop I couldnt really fold the flop. I just think I may have been better getting away from the hand preflop, before I was commited to the pot.

Anyway, I'll probably see you around, I'm gonna try to make it down to the casino on thursday so I may see you there.

Joe.

Hello Joe,

Sorry for passing on losing ways. Perhaps you shouldn't listen to me, then!
I am running okay, pretty much recovered everything I lost in the bad times, although not quite. I am sure I will start losing again soon!

Yes, the blind's flat call here looks scary. I used to get very scared in that situation myself, but I have been shown optimistic rubbish by these flat callers so many times, I've given up fearing them.

I think you were committed to the pot by your first raise anyway, and can't afford to fold postflop.

Guy.
