Default What is the worlds largest poker tournament?

In terms of total players playing at one time. I see Paradise has over 3100 players signed up for a freeroll. The prize total is $300 so the +ev is equal to less than ten cents.

yes Catfish I just looked at that..and I said uhuh 3000+ entrants ..lol ..no way it s worth it.For me in general terms most freerolls arent woth it unless they have prize pools of $1000+ maybe $500 if the field is short or very weak in general terms.Just doesnt pay to spend the time..especailly when I make 2-3 times my MTT hourly earn at one NL or Limit cash game.I usually play 3-6 tables mostly 3-4.It's really rarely worth it to divert time from cash games. Not if it's an overlay or you are tired or you want to lock a nite's win or lock out a nite's loss and trying to recoup thats another issue.Freerolls and small tourneys-oppurtunity cost has to be weighted heavily if you play cash games well!!Damn problem is they are so fun and so low stress..they suck you in ..hehe.
Congrats you dog sweet win!!.I was in final 35 in both the Stars and Paradise last nite..couldnt do much thu..had a really heinous beat at Stars.

A quick look in the Poker Stars lobby, displays a freeroll where 5,295 people played. The prize pool was... 9 entries to another tournament where there will be about 300 people in it... playing for a prize pool of $250.

Do the sums.

Stars NL freerolls routinely break 6000 entrants these days, particularly the weekend afternoon ones. I usually play in them while doing some other things. I finished 3rd out of 4200 once, too.

Do you play the $1 or $2 tournaments? It seems to me that the level of play in these isn't much different to a freeroll and you can win some decent prizes for a very small outlay.

I cannot see much point in playing Stars freerolls these days, but obviously 1,000s of people regularly prove me wrong.

I know $$s are not important but for counting purposes is the total prize pool the right measure for sizing up tournaments?

So looking at total prize pool, the internet race comes down to:
1. UltiamteBet, $1,400,000 January x 2004
2. PartyPoker, $340,000 January 4, 2004
3. PartyPoker, ... lots slightly smaller

PokerStars has some on the list but they are away down after PartyPoker.

So, the winner is UltimateBet.

What about the main event of the WCOOP in 2003? A prize pool of $891,000.

Or are you referring to tournaments from this year? (which would leave a pretty small sample as it is only the 22nd of January)

Money is all important in deteriming what's biggest. Who cares if 10,000 players fight over 9 entries to some $100 buyin tourney.

Stars WCOOP Main event had $891,000 prize pool. The $300 buyin 3rd event had 407K.

PokerStars freerolls are a total joke.Huge feilds and miserly prize pools..total waste of time.I think i played one like 8 months ago.
Stars alaso has weekly and monthly FPP events that are also a joke..the prize pools just plan suk.Stars in my opinion has the best software but in general terms they give very little back to players in terms of value-added tournies(guaranteed or added money tournies),overlays etc.
Stars are really cheap-there is tons of VALUE out there if thats your game.
