Other than TPgoodK and better, OESD, 4 flush, and inside Str8 with pot odds, are there other hands that I should be calling or raising on the flop in a multiway pot?
I think I may be staying in too often with something like overcards with a backdoor flush. How bad is this? |

Your question is a good one, however, it is difficult to answer. Every hand is it's own animal and has it's own life. You should look through some hand histories and post specific examples.

you left out the size of the pot, and how likely it is a raise will come behind you. both vital considerations when your hand is as weak as you said and you're considering a call.

I agree with the above poster. You also need to consider position, how sure you are that your overcard outs are good, and how good your flush draw is. If you're confident that your overcard outs are clean (ie, hitting one of them will make yours the best hand), then you can give yourself 7 outs and play accordingly.

If you feel your overcard outs are good, that's 6 outs. If I have a backdoor flush draw J high or better, or a gutshot to the the nut straight, i'll count that as an out, for the purposes of calculating my odds.
Probably not mathematically correct, but gets the job done Of course like others have said, you have to take the other factors into account. |
