Why the river check?

Why the river check?

Because she thinks he either has a bigger pair or AK and won't call.

I think its better to call. JJ is not a capping hand, and you have poor position. By smooth calling here, you can raise the SB flop bet(providing a favorable flop) and hopefully get it heads up.

I'd bet the river.

I like the way this hand was played for the most part. I agree w/ Stu on the capping thing, but doing this from time to time I think is fine.

I would have not bet the river

JTG nailed what I was thinking. But checking behind, headsup, after being checked to on all streets, seems bad?

I capped preflop maybe not for sound reasons, but I figured -- I'd like to get MP1 out, and Since I am going to put in 3, I might as well put in the cap and take control of the hand. Plus I possibly (probably?) have the best hand PF?

I do like Stu's idea of call, then raise a favorable flop. I do this sometimes. Capping with JJ is something of an online experiment I am going through. So far I have found that I either do have the best hand preflop; or I can get away from my hand pretty easily Post-Flop; or if I snap off AA then I am well disguised and I get mounds and mounds of action. The str8 never occurred to me. I didn't "see" it until you pointed it out just now.

How you been? Hope you had a great X-mas, haven't talked to you in a while. Anyways...

I would bet this river 100% of the time unless my opponent had a history of slowplaying to the river. I highly doubt AA, KK or QQ would have check called the flop and turn after 3 betting pf. If he folds AK that is fine, but I think there is a chance that he will call you with AK or a worse pair.
