pocket 10\'s mid position...advice seeked
Location: Mirage
Stakes: $10/$20 Opponents: Mix. Some weak, some strong. Definitely some fish there. I'm in mid-position with pocket 10's and is a loose raiser who limped in on my right. I raise and unfortunately there are 2 more stone cold callers (including the button who is a weak player) and the blinds also call. So there are 6 of us to see the flop. So we see the flop and it comes J 9 x rainbow. I guess I can live with the one overcard. But it seems like a situation whether I should be aggressive or give up. Anyhow, the loose raiser raises (usually with a flush draw or 2nd or 3rd pair or anything really). I raise and the button calls and small blind calls and loose raiser also calls. The turn is a blank and I bet, button folds, SB calls and loose raiser calls. The river is a blank. I am in last position and check it out. Of course the Small blind shows QJ for the top pair. And loose raiser mucks. I'm wondering if I have 6 opponents and an overcard to my pair shows up. Should I just give it up or try to take it? I was hoping to use the loose raiser as leverage to get someone with a J with perhaps a bad kicker to fold or maybe even to make them think I have an overpair to the board. I'm wondering what other people's experiences are in these situations. This game wasn't filled with particularily skilled people, but I thought I did the right thing even if it cost me money here. Anyhow, thanks in advance. Garland |
