Value betting your kicker.
I am very new to short handed.
.50/1 at TGC for the OIC, you down with OPP? Its me and a pretty poor player HU. I'm in the BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Fish completes. I check Flop comes A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. He takes a sec and checks. I bet, not really to bluff but because I think I have the best hand. Turn comes 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. he check calls River comes 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. he check folds. Is this how any of you would have played it? I didn't really think he had an A on the flop, thereby giving my K the best hand. -AA |

Re: Value betting your kicker.
If you don't suspect that your opponents have the case ace or a pocket pair, and you think your kicker will hold up, ie the 8, then it is certainly the proper play.
IMO, you played it well. |

Re: Value betting your kicker.
Since he didn't raise before the flop heads-up, it seems very unlikely he has an ace or a pocket pair. Even a king would qualify as a raising hand heads up. Thus your king is likely the best hand all along.
