Default NLP at poker?

Iīm thinking about making a course in NLP. Poker is not the only reason why Iīm interested in it, but I admit that if one can use NLP sucessful at the poker table it would have some huge influence to my decission. Anyone has some experience and knows whether NLP can be of any help on the poker tables? Iīve checked the archives but havenīt found a lot about it.

Best regards

Not too easy for me to explain in english, but in short: Itīs a method to influence other people (e.g. useful in selling) and to read signs everybody sends uncosciously. There are different groups of people and you learn to which one of these groups somebody belongs to. After you found out to which group he belongs to you are "placing anchors" (i just translated this from german, probably you call it something else in english), and they will come back to you (to buy things,....). Itīs a method which is well used by personal trainers, politicians,....

As far as I know you canīt learn it by a book. There are (pretty expensive) courses, and it takes quite some time. This explanation was really very short, you can do lots of things with it, but I donīt have a) the knowledge so far and b) the time right now anyway (gotta go to work).

It is more than just influencing others. There are many methods of altering your own belief systems, changing bad habits, creating "resource states" to fire up your motivation or put yourself in a different frame of mind when necessary, curing phobias, etc.

There are many books on the subject, some of the older ones are now hard to find. One can learn quite a bit without ever going to a training.

The Tony Robbins (I know, I know) original 'Personal Power' book gives a pretty good 'English' description of NLP.

I've been exposed to the stuff through the Tony Robbins books and tapes and liked the concepts but have had hard time applying the material in my own life. Any idea on where I can find a trainer in SoCal?
thanks,

Shauna

Sorry, wish I did.

I'll say that I didn't get all that much from them myself, but what I did get I used to propel myself to a vastly better place in life ten years later.

That is: Just keep evaluating and measuring your progress every day, and make the changes that are needed. What did I do today? Did today move me closer to my goal(s), or farther away?

One could say that when learning poker, too.

Happy Holidays.
