Re: Some 3/6 Party AQo Hands
I would usually raise AQoff preflop.
1 - You only have top pair, I would call the river raise, but not three bet, I think you lost. 2 - You could play this hand this way, I imagine you lost to a middle pocket pair. 3 - You could have lost this hand to AJ, or maybe beat QJ, or JT. I would have raised preflop, and probably have won the hand on the flop. 4 - This feels like slowplayed trips. |

Re: Some 3/6 Party AQo Hands
Here's what I would do, rightly or wrongly.
Hand 1. Raise pf so LP folds whatever trash he made the straight with. Crycall on river. Hand 2. Raise pf and you might not see that "all call" street after street. It makes your following bets more powerful. Hand 3. Raise pf, if MP still raises the flop you can check the turn and see what he does. Hand 4. You can fold to the checkraise depending on your read of MP. |

Re: Some 3/6 Party AQo Hands
Hand 1)
Raise prelop trying to buy the button and keep it shorthanded. I wouldn't 3-bet the river, you are likely beaten. Hand 2) I think checkraising is the better play on this flop. When you bet out of the big blind with this board it is too easy for opponents to put you on a straight draw or top pair which makes it correct for them to call or raise with a huge number of hands. Checkraising puts a lot more pressure on them. If the flop is checked thru it's no big deal. Seeing as you bet out I think the rest is fine though I would have check-called the river since if LP was drawing he will fold if you bet but may bet if you check. Hand 3) I would have gone for the checkraise on the turn but your play was fine. Consider sometimes open raising with AQo in EP. Hand 4) You can usually fold to the turn checkraise unless you have a specific read on this player. Lost Wages |

Re: Some 3/6 Party AQo Hands
Post flop you seem to be aggressive when you think you need to be, but pre-flop you are playing all but one of these hands very passively. Some pre-flop aggression coupled with your post-flop aggression may have allowed you to win some of these pots.
In general, you can raise A-Q. |

Re: Some 3/6 Party AQo Hands
You're playing passively when you have a strong hand (particularly pre-flop) and playing over-aggressive when you have a medium-strength or worse hand (often no pair). That's a bad combination.
Try betting when you've got it and not betting when you don't. It's a simple plan but it works really well. |
