Default Do I Need To Be Fitted For A Skirt?

Party 1/2 game...surprisingly tight-aggressive, although the texture of the game appears to have been loosening up in the prior thirty minutes.

I am dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button.

UTG folds, two callers, folded to me, I raise, SB calls, BB raises, called around to me, I cap, all call...five see the flop...

4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB checks, BB bets, MP calls, I raise, SB cold calls, BB calls, MP calls...five remain for the turn

K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB checks, BB bets, MP calls, I raise, SB cold calls again, BB and MP both call...why won't anyone fold!

5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Everyone checks to me...with a huge pot already, and my fear that someone is setting me up for a checkraise with a recently made straight, two pair or trips, I only check...

It's close, but I think I would bet for value. You're going to get beat some of the time, but I think more often you will get one or two callers paying you off with worse hands. And if you get checkraised, you can safely assume your hand is no good and not have to pay two bets.

yikes, you must be a check-raise magnet. I think betting for value here is marginal, but OK. If check-raised, you must call. If you intend to fold to a check-raise, you'd be better off checking, as you cannot risk letting someone move you off the best hand in this huge pot.

Default Follow-up

After reading the two responses after mine, I felt like I should add some clarification to my response.

I don't think this is "close" or "marginal" at all. I'd bet this river 100% of the time and call a raise 100% of the time.

Absolutely.

It's really hard to believe anybody can beat the game without making obvious river bets like this one.

No, it really isn't. Low-limit online players are so horrible that you can make many obvious mistakes and still beat the game.

You're probably right. I must have too much respect for the horrible players when I think the decent players need to find every bet.

I think you guys who don't think it's close haven't played much Party 1-2. You're going to be shown J-3, K-3, K-4, hell, even K-5 a fair amount of the time.
