Default Party sit&go\'s

I was just reviewing my stats and poker traker is telling me that I am placing in the money ~50% of the time I play a Party sit&go tournyment (9/19 mostly $5 and $10 limit tournys but 2 $5 nl and 1 $5 pl). Is ratio good/bad/indifferent?

If you play these sort of tournies, what sort of long term win percentage should you aim for?

Thanks,

revoohc

I think most decent players hover between 50-60% win rate. ROI differs greatly depending on whether you play 1 table or 2 table SnGs. I am averaging about a 55% win rate this month and a 27% ROI. I've heard many people who play 2 tables exclusively (on Stars, don't think they have em on Party) have a 60% ROI on similar win rates.

So, assuming your money finished are evenly distributed, it looks like you are doing well.

When you speak of your win rate I take it you mean your cash rate, correct?

I have played in 37 NL SNGs on Party, all $10+$1. I have 7 first places, 3 seconds and 6 thirds for a net gain of $153.00 ($4.14 / tourney).

I feel I can push that in the $5.00 range with a larger sample size. Ive busted out of the last five Ive played on good plays (QQ vs 22, AA vs TT, few others) that Ive just gotten horrible flops on after going all-in.

I think any regular here who is a decent player could put up comparable results. Im hoping to move up to the $30+3's once I have a big enough bankroll (25 buy-ins).

Good luck.

50% is very solid for a winning player. ROI of 25-30% would be very good.

i would personally believe that at these limits, any good player should be able to get in the money 50% of the time. these stats are on kind of a small sample size, but if you believe you are a good poker player who understands tournament strategy, you are probably doing this well for a reason.

First, don't play any $5 tourneys. The entry fee is too high and the players are not much worse than in higher tourneys.

Second, you sample size is way too small. If you didn't know this already, it's more likely than not your results indicate only recent luck.

Third, 50% is a good place rate long term, but to make any legitimate $$ you're going to need more 1st than 3rds. If you were playing against monkeys, you should shoot for 50%, but the monkeys at Party were used in Timothy Leary's laboratory, so you should be looking at closer to 60% as your goal. Hi revo,

Like Michael D and others say it's a very small sample.
I've played over 1500 $10+1's at Paradise in the last 2 years or so. My bookkeeping is incomplete, but I've done ok.
(5,000 in cash outs in these and the micros)

The thing is there's the inevitable 20 tourney pastings with only 1 or 2 placings. I've had a couple of these and they can be bewildering.

Hopefully you can avoid these at Party where the games are supposed to be softer. I've struggled at Party and continue to do well at Paradise. Go figure. good luck!!

Default Re: Party sit&go\'s

I wanted to post an update to this thread with my results over the last few weeks.

Played in 95 SNGs ($10 + $1) for total buy-in of $1,045.
First place: 15 (15.8%)
Second place: 12 (12.6%)
Third place: 17 (17.9%)

I have finished in the money 46.3% of the time with a return of $4.26 per tournament or $405.

I have PokerTracker and wanted to share a few stats. Im +T for all positions except for the BB and am +T at most of the levels except for levels 2 and 5. Losing at level 2 doesnt worry me much as I dont play many hands. I find Im winning pretty big at level 1 busting out all-in fish with the nuts and by level 2, the maniacs are gone and Im losing the blinds.

.................... PF Raise % ...... Vol Put in Pot %
Level 1 (10/15) ....... 2.95% ............ 14.24%
Level 2 (15/30) ....... 3.93% ............ 14.50%
Level 3 (25/50) ....... 7.93% ............ 14.90%
Level 4 (50/100) ..... 14.16% ............ 19.55%
Level 5 (100/200)..... 16.67% ............ 24.19%
Level 6 (150/300) .... 26.69% ............ 36.80%
Level 7 (200/400) .... 32.16% ............ 47.24%

Any comments? What other things should I be looking at in PokerTracker to improve my play?
