Default KEM Magnum Index Cards

I've had my eye on a pack of these for a long while, and wondered if anyone had them. What do you think of them?

It's not that my eyesight is that bad, I just think that the Indexes and Faces look superb.

As I'm from the U.K. I'll have to go to a bit of trouble to get them so it would be great if I could get some (positive or negative) opinion from 2+2'ers that have had, or at least seen them.

If you know the best places to order KEM cards from Online that would be great too.

Thanks.

I assume you're referring to the cards with the oversized numbers/letters and smaller pictures/pips (I'm not up on the KEM lingo for their different index sizes)...having said that, I find that for poker those kind of cards are much harder to use. Especially at a small, crowded table, you have to lift more of the card off of the table to see number and suit, thereby increasing the risk of someone next to you seeing what you had (the flip side is that your opponents have the same disadvantage). If you're the kind that likes to pick your cards completely off the table (and your game allows this), I would think either set would be OK.

As far as online, go look at eBay and search for "kem cards". There are often auctions that are listed in GBP rather than USD so they're probably geared toward the European crowd. I also think I've seen several UK-based casino supply companies online when doing a Google search.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response Wingnut.

The Magnum Indexes are actually the really HUGE numbers, as opposed to the merely BIG Super Index ones.
You can see the difference HERE

I don't think there'll be any problem at all having to lift the cards up to see what it is as there's a standard small Index in the corner *as well*.
It also would only be for a home game between friends so even if there was an issue with people seeing your cards it wouldn't be a problem really.

Thanks for the Ebay tip, I have checked them. The real problem I have is while some of the UK-based Casino's sell KEM cards the Magnum Index are a real specialty item. There's not a single UK site I can see with Magnum cards, so a US site seems like the only option.

Hey John,
I had a deck of those and they were really fun for joking around and I liked them for play (others in our home game didn't).
I can check with my local shop if you want to split a set (2 decks, 1 for each of us) and you can just mail me a check or whatever (paypal?).
Let me know,

Wow...those ARE huge.

I know this is a US site Kem Consumer but they have a couple of patterns in Bridge Magnum.

Good luck!

Default Re: Where to buy KEM Magnum Index Cards

The North American distributor is Kardwell Int'l in up-state (Mattituck) NY. [They're also very closely associated with the manufacturer AFAIK.]

You can find order information online at KEM cards; but, you'll have to place a phone call during business hours to place an order. I ordered my KEM cards from them (I live in Canada) and I was very pleased with the product despite the hefty tax I had to pay for cross-border shopping. If there are any irregularities in your order, they are very reasonable and fair in rectifying the situation... Jodi Kardwell actually takes phone orders occasionally

Good Luck!

Thanks for the responses guys.

I think I've found the best place for me to get what I'm looking for. They do International shipping, Paypal, and are the cheapest I've seen. They look pretty good.
I think I'm gonna plump for a double deck of Magnum Index, in Paisley.

Games Unlimited. Anyone used them?

John,

I have 3 sets of KEM cards.

1. standard index - Poker width
2. super index - Poker width
3. standard index - Bridge width (Florence pattern)

Check out the super index, I think the Magnum is a little strange.

Try eBay if you want them cheap and check out: www.auctionsniper.com if you want to place a bid w/4 secs left in the auction while you sleep! If you do 'snipe' tell them 'joetall' sent you.

Enjoy,
Joe
