If you\'re averaging 1.0 to 1.5BB/hr online...
Something to consider.... you're seeing approx. twice as many hands per hour vs. B&M. The rakes are less online. And you don't have to toke (well, you don't *have* to at B&M either).... yet if you are only averaging 1.0 to 1.5 BB/hr then how do you think you'll perform at a B&M?

Re: If you\'re averaging 1.0 to 1.5BB/hr online...
you're forgetting a huge factor: people play a lot tighter online, because they did not have to drive a long way to get to a cardroom, and they only have to wait half as long to get a new hand if they fold this one.
at low limits, the rake and tokes tend to eat you up, but at 10/20 or higher i think you'd do about the same at a B&M because of the looser players. |

If the rake is 1/2 what it is in a B&M room, but you play 2x as many hands per period of time, doesn't the rake even out?

yeah i was wondering this as well. especially also if you play 3 or more tables online... you're seeing about 1/6 of the hands in a B&M per hour than online.

Re: If you\'re averaging 1.0 to 1.5BB/hr online...
My guess to your question; Poorly.
I deal for a living and have played from California to Mississippi. Online, is much looser the B&M in my opinion. The B&M concepts differ a bit in that more information is available which takes experience to understand and take advantage of. I predict poor performance overall for internet gamers once they go B&M. At least initially. |

The amount raked from a hand is only important in percentage to the total pot. Not the accrued ammount per hour. In the same way you really earn money per hand, not per hour.

Now there's something I don't recall seeing discussed before. Someone playing three 3/6 games is paying somewhere between twice and three times the rake of someone playing one 10/20 game. Hmmm.

Re: If you\'re averaging 1.0 to 1.5BB/hr online...
But over the same time frame they are seeing perhaps 6 times as many hands, so there are many more profitable situations to exploit. Looking soley at rake paid is meaningless, as I'll pay twice as much rake if my overall win rate goes up. One has to evaluate profit over a given period of time (which includes the rake and tips) for the two games to glean the appropriate comparison.

If you're averaging 1-1.5bb/hr online in the Paradise 20-40, you will do fine. If you are averaging that in a loose low limit Party game, you will have your work cut out for you.

JR is right. You can't look at two games with players of equal skill and determine which is better based on the total rake posted in an hour. You have to look at the rake per hand. $5 rake an hour per player might seem fine for a 3/6 table, but if you are playing only 1 hand an hour, the game is obviously unbeatable.
