AA hand, missed bets?
Same 4-8 game
A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in MP EP opens with a raise and is called by someone in MP. I 3 bet and the button calls all three. SB calls as does the original raiser and caller. Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked around turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Checked to me, I bet, PF raiser pops it. Although I was worried about a set I opted to reraise, everyone folded except the PF raiser who called. River 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] We checked the river and he showed AK comments? Re: AA hand, missed bets?
Very weak. Why did you check the flop? You weren't really worried about someone being ahead of you, were you? That's the best flop you could hope for, as the preflop raiser or the cold caller will often have a K and give you lots of action.
Once you check the flop someone with a K is going to be sure their hand is good and play it strongly on the turn and river. You should have had no hesitation about 3-betting the turn and betting the river. |

Re: AA hand, missed bets?
Mojo, hate the way you played this one. Sorry.
Bet the flop. Why don't you bet the flop? Want to raise the turn. I don't like it but OK. Turn. OK you bet the Turn. Essential. When he raises you aren't sure about 3 betting? You should be sure. Why? He doesn't read you for AA for damn sure. And he probably doesn't even read you for AK. He's probably trying to check raise you from the flop onward with AK. Being scared of him outflopping your AA with KK is just bad, because you've put yourself in this spot by not betting the flop. He doesn't have a clue what you have so you can't have a clue what he has. River check for the free showdown. OMG. Butchered. HATE this river checkdown. He's practically told you he doesn't have a set of Kings by just calling your 3 bet on the turn. BET THE RIVER. Pretty butchered hand imo. He was trying to CR the flop (or maybe even the turn) The fact you 3 bet the turn means you made some of the lost flop money. But checking the River means you lost it all again... BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD Why did you check the flop? |

Bet the flop every time.
Bet the river every time. |

Re: AA hand, missed bets?
I don't think the flop nonbet is too awful if it means you can get 3 bets in on the turn and another on the river. For God's sake, bet the damn river.

Re: AA hand, missed bets?
Yeah but if I bet the flop it is correct for weak hands to call.

Re: AA hand, missed bets?
Wah?
That doesn't mean that it's right for YOU not to bet. Forget what's right for them. Would you rather they correctly pay 1 bet to try and win 16, or pay NO bets to try and win 15? Make them pay to try and draw out on the best hand (yours). It seems like you haven't been drawn out on enough by giving free cards to realise the danger of it. I don't understand the fascination here lately with not betting because an opponent would be right to call the bet. Maybe my understanding of all that in HPFAP ain't all that it should be. Anyway, I don't care. I'm still betting. |

Is this all a big joke? |

Re: AA hand, missed bets?
if you DON'T bet the flop then it is correct for weak hands to CHECK, which is much worse.
okay, so there's 15 SB going into the flop. presumably, with implied odds, a middle pair is correct to chase if bet into here. but consider the equity of the bet itself -- he is only going to catch his trips 8.3% of the time, meaning that it's only better for him to call a bet rather than see it checked through if there are 10 other people putting money in. |

If it is, it's a pretty good one.
