When the board shows quads...
Hi. I'm looking for advice on how I played this hand.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx UTG :#A500AF(Villan)/ ($44.66) UTG+1 ($24.05) MP1 ($11.70) MP2 ($33.95) Hero ($45.60) CO ($27.30) Button ($21.25) SB ($28.70) BB ($46.75) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. <font color="#CC3333">UTG :#A500AF(Villan)/ raises to $0.5</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $3</font>, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, UTG :#A500AF(Villan)/ calls $2.50. Flop: ($6.35) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> Villan checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $4</font>, Villan calls $4. Turn: ($14.35) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> <font color="#CC3333">Villan bets $10</font>, Hero calls $10. River: ($34.35) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> Villan checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: $34.35 Results in white below: <font color="#FFFFFF"> Villan has Th Tc (four of a kind, eights). Hero has Kh Ks (four of a kind, eights). Outcome: Villan wins $17.17. Hero wins $17.17. </font> The Villan was a complete fish - one of the worst I've seen. Played Ace-rags constantly and had no concept of odds. I had a strong feeling that my kings were good until the river, where I was worried about him calling me down with Ace-rag. Did I play this one ok? |

Re: When the board shows quads...
I would've raised the turn probably...and I also would've bet the river probably. Any ace would have bet first...you might get a call out of a queen, and you avoid showing your hand.

Re: When the board shows quads...
Bet some more on the flop.
Definitely raise the turn! River check is ok but I would consider a small valuebet (1/4-1/3 pot or so) and insta-fold if he raises because its a microscopic chance he would raise without the ace because he will be very afraid you have one. |

Re: When the board shows quads...
You got hosed if you split the pot with him! Why no raise on the turn? I'm trying to get it all-in there.
As played the river check behind is fine, I can't see any sane person calling a bet without an A or K. |

Re: When the board shows quads...
Re-raise the turn and checking that river is ok to me.
