Hypothetical \"Do you put in 3rd raise preflop\" Question
Hero ($1400)
SB ($1600) Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $5. 3 folds, Hero raises to $30, SB raises to $90, BB folds, 60 to hero Why do you raise? Why call? Does your answer change if you know SB is average, overly aggressive-- Will lead at flop 100% of time? |

Re: Hypothetical \"Do you put in 3rd raise preflop\" Question
for me its player dependant and sometimes dependant on what i have done before with big hands. i like to mix calling and putting in the 3 bet there, they both work.
[ QUOTE ] Does your answer change if you know SB is average, overly aggressive-- Will lead at flop 100% of time? [/ QUOTE ] of course just calling sets the trap, but not all overly aggro's are donk's and some will pick it up if you always trap the maniacs and always 3-bet the more passive post flop players to bloat the pot. |

Re: Hypothetical \"Do you put in 3rd raise preflop\" Question
If he's average, you raise because he's got a good hand, and you want to increase the pot when you're ahead.
If he's aggro, you call and raise the flop, because aggro players may have any two to reraise, but can still find the fold button if you put in the third raise preflop. |

Re: Hypothetical \"Do you put in 3rd raise preflop\" Question
A few reasons to 3 bet KK:
a) Up against tricky aggro player who could have any two when you are OOP. (Easy to make it completely unprofitable for opponent to continue with worse when stacks are shallow, if stacks are deep, this is somewhat problematic because of implied odds). b) You have been known to 3 bet with less (most players aren't) c) You know they overvalue JJ-QQ AK. d) It truly represents a monster. (Consider with deep stacks/suited connectors. e) If you get re-raised or called, you can pretty much put villian on AA-QQ, maybe even AA/KK. Without being able to get a huge chunk of your stack in PF, and a decent chance that villian will stack off with a lesser overpair, the re-raise seems unprofitable. It seems like many more people will stack off with QQ-JJ on an overcard flop than will PF. You'll usually get at least a potish sized bet out of them. If you can somehow get the PF Shania where people can call you with even worse... then go for it. |
