2nd pair on paired board
Let me share some more paired board fun with ya'll. 3-6 with the daytime, mostly veteran crew. I'm one of 4 players seeing the flop, from sb with
A [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/forums/images/icons/diamond.gif[/img] . The flop comes Q [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/forums/images/icons/club.gif[/img] . It is checked to the button, an aggressive player who loves the big cards and gets pissed when they fail him, who bets. I fold. I'm fuzzy on exactly how it was played from there, but two players showed down with pocket eights and a busted king high flush, after two aces come out on the turn and river for my wasted aces full. I find that flop situation maddening. If there is a queen out, I am drawing way uphill. If there isn't a queen out, I still have only 5 cards that help me, and a good chance to be beat by an 8,9,t,j, or k.Many of the players in my local games would check-call with even a queen-small kicker in this spot, and some of them would play q-any suited. |

Re: 2nd pair on paired board
This is an ideal opportunity to check-raise. Aggressive button is probably behind your 7s and by forcing people to call your raise they may have to fold their pocket 8s. There is no question you should raise here.

Re: 2nd pair on paired board
against an aggresive button player I would definatly raise in this situation your likely to get some better hands and or overcards to fold and possibly win the hand right there.
