Avoid Hollywood Aurora Illinois
Hollywood Casino Aurora Illinois:
EVERY SATURDAY twenty plus players show up to play 10/20 Holdem at nine thirty or ten a.m. EVERY SATURDAY, the lousy poker staff opens ONE 10/20 an hour later, at 10:30 a.m. That game is filled with "regulars" who are on a list made on a PREVIOUS DAY. The other 10/20 game starts at NOON. (It takes staff ALL of thirty to forty minutes to open a game, AFTER THEY ANNOUNCE IT.) To make matters worse, the list for the second game is filled with "CALLS INS", so they show up at noon and the folks who have been in the joint since 9:30 don't get into the second game!!! You could arrive at 9:30 a.m. and still be waiting to play at 1 p.m. About 1 p.m. they get around to opening a third game, in which you DON'T WANT TO GET STUCK, because that game will be shut down four hours later (5 p.m.), and those players will be placed BACK on the list. They send the dealer to the pit. Hollywood Aurora Illinois absolutely refuses to spend an EXTRA PENNY on paying dealers. Even during the weekdays, you will frequently see TEN or more players hanging around, WAITING for a dealer to come on duty. To top it off the joint is a SIX DOLLAR RAKE joint, for 10/20. |

Re: Avoid Hollywood Aurora Illinois
It also takes more that "A Dealer" to open a game. If you notice those guys rotate in and out. It takes about 3 regular dealers and one relief to keep a game running.
Still, if this is a regular situation, the casino is stupid for not staffing and keeping more games running. |

Re: Avoid Hollywood Aurora Illinois
They just stoped charging $2 for parking and a $5 entry fee.
I went there once. Paid my $7 total in admission (for a [censored] casino?!?) then saw the waitlist, put $1 in a slot machine and left. They got their $8 from a regular gambler. hollywood casino blows. |

Re: Avoid Hollywood Aurora Illinois
It's less a matter of dealers, and more a matter a gaming positions. They can only have X number of gaming positions occupied. I was there one Friday when there was a 3 hour wait and only half the tables operating for this reason.
For that alone, I refuse to go back. The rack is high, but the games are so supple and soft. Too bad Illinois hates poker so badly. Regards, T |

Re: Avoid Hollywood Aurora Illinois
Ok, say I did want to check this hole out sometime over thanksgiving break, what would my optimal strategy be?
I think I heard they spread 20/40 one night/week and I would like to play at least that. I can go any time over next week, but when is optimal? Thanks! Craig |
