QQ on the button
Hey, I signed up a while ago and never really got around to posting very much because I stopped playing a lot of poker. I have just recently gotten back into playing and decided to come here for some improvement.
Pokerroom $1-$2 I just sat down at this table recently, so no real reads on anyone specific. The table is however fairly passive and loose. Hero is on the button ANTES/BLINDS Player1 posts blind ($0.50), Player2 posts blind ($1). PRE-FLOP Villain1 calls $1, Player3 folds, Player4 folds, Player5 folds, Player6 folds, Villain2 calls $1, Hero bets $2, Player1 folds, Player2 folds, Villain1 calls $1, Villian2 calls $1. FLOP [board cards 7S,8H,KD ] Villain1 checks, Villain2 checks, Hero bets $1, Villain1 calls $1, Villian2 calls $1. TURN [board cards 7S,8H,KD,7D ] Villain1 checks, Villian2 checks, Hero checks. Was this a bad check? Should I have bet this? I was worried about someone having a K with weak kicker, so thats why I checked. RIVER [board cards 7S,8H,KD,7D,AD ] Villain1 checks, Villian2 checks, Hero checks. Bad river card for me. If I wasn't already beat than I know I am now, so I feel like i have to check this one. Should I have kept pushing on the turn? or did doing that just show weakness? Thanks for your help. |

Re: QQ on the button
As the suckiness of the villains increases, your confidence in betting that turn increases. No reads? Eh, it's probably ok to check. River check is fine.
Edit: Had the turn not paired the bottom card, it's a pretty easy bet. Edit2: I changed my mind again. This is a very good bet. Because of how easily you can fold to a c/r. Bet as the last money you're putting into the pot. |

Re: QQ on the button
My default play is to bet the turn.
As you played it, does anyone think a river bet gets a K to fold often enough to make it worth it? How about when combined with a bet for value because we may well have the best hand? |

Re: QQ on the button
I bet/3 bet the turn and bet/call the river. I don't see villians showing any strength. Even playing hero's way til river I would bet for both bluff/value bet.

Bet the turn deffinitely, I think you can get away with checking the river.

Bet the turn, fold to a raise. If the come along, check the river.

So you bet, villian raises, you re-raise, he caps. You just payed 4 bets (+1 more on the river) to find out you lost. If you get check raised here, you are behind--either fold or call down. Bet the river with two over cards and a paired board against a vil that just showed major aggro by C/R the turn? Can you explain this reasoning? |
