55 ragged flop, big pot
3/6 live, somewhat tough table (similar to online 3/6). I have 55 in the CO. Tilting UTG open raises, 2 folds, 3 coldcalls, I call, button and blinds call. Flop is J73 rainbow. Checks around to me. Any point in betting?

Re: 55 ragged flop, big pot
I think this is a little too many people that can have connected with the flop somehow to warrant a bet from you. I would check and hope for one of the three (3!) players still behind you to bet and then study the action working its way back to you. Most likely you are beat, but if a bet behind you results in a mass exodus out of the hand, you might even test the original bettor with a raise. But most likely you are behind, chasing two outs...

Re: 55 ragged flop, big pot
I would put in a single bet, maybe get rid of A/Xs, pocket 6's etc.
But I'm done by the turn if anyone shows strength on the turn or if anymore face cards come out. Hopefully you get a free card to see the river and maybe catch a 5. If it stays low maybe make 1 crying call on the river. I've been surprisingly good in similar hands. Someone always tends to bet out if you check behind on the turn, so it will be all based on reads. In cases like this when they bet out they had a pair of 3's, or A/K, A/Q, K/Q unimproved. And at times they did actually have a Jack or higher pair like 10's, or 8's. |

Re: 55 ragged flop, big pot
So it's a tough table, with 4 CC...
Check & fold to any bet. |

Re: 55 ragged flop, big pot
My bad.
In that case I'd throw in a bet, see what develops. A lot of folding and I might still be in the lead. A lot of action, I can let go of hand... |
