Final Table hand, call push from chipleader?
First off, thanks to everyone on the forum. I spent October focusing only on SNG's but kept reading on this forum. Now that I've gotten back into the big fields, I have 3 final tables today and 4 this week! Sure, they all had fields under 300 but it still feels good.
Anyways, this is from a $30+3 on Party (participants limited to 99). If it's a standard fold, just let me know. ***** Hand History for Game 2983670366 ***** NL Texas Hold'em Trny:17145846 Level:12 Blinds (500/1000) - Saturday, November 05, 02:25:53 EDT 2005 Table Multi-Table(503328) Table #1 (Real Money) Seat 10 is the button Total number of players : 6 Seat 2: lilabby ( $7470 ) Seat 3: bezzy74 ( $50064 ) Seat 5: raskolnikovv ( $12056 ) Seat 9: poker4mepls ( $6690 ) Seat 10: dudl45 ( $12697 ) Seat 4: Theo_Retical ( $10023 ) Trny:17145846 Level:12 Blinds (500/1000) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to raskolnikovv [ 6c 6h ] Theo_Retical folds. raskolnikovv raises [2700]. poker4mepls folds. dudl45 folds. lilabby folds. bezzy74 is all-In [49064] Chip leader had built most of his stack by coming over the top of people and winning with hands like ATo and KQs so I would give him a pretty wide range here, maybe including lower pairs even. The rest of the table had been playing a little on the tight side. I started thinking about getting 5 to 3 on my money in what felt like a coinflip. If I called and won, I would have a nice stack compared to the rest of the table and could more freely steal from them and be pretty much assured a top three or better finish. On the other hand, if I fold, I'm still about average compared to everyone else and most importantly, still in it. So, any merit to calling here or easy muck? |

Re: Final Table hand, call push from chipleader?
Bah. This is an annoying spot to be in. I'm sure it is +cEV to call here. The question is whether it is +$EV. We'd have to know payouts to figure that out. Certainly calling and winning gives you a legitimate chance for 1st, while even after folding you still are almost tied for 2nd.
I really think if you're going to play this hand, you need to push it preflop. The chip leader could easily have a hand like KT and he may be less likely to just call 12000 with that hand. |
