Difference between live and internet players....
I've seen top players make statements like this:
"Tight aggressive BB who plays too much internet poker and not enough live poker calls." What does that mean? How can you tell? |

Re: Difference between live and internet players....
Probably b/c he is running around 4-tabling the live poker room. That's how you can tell.

Re: Difference between live and internet players....
For the most part when I play live I can tell who the "internet pro," at the table is.
Stereotypes while often frowned upon seem to work in this game. |

Re: Difference between live and internet players....
You can tell because their play is very good but their etiquette and reaction time seem out of synch. Their experience making good poker decisions is greater than their experience making them in a live setting.

Re: Difference between live and internet players....
They're typically the only ones at the table who feel ackward handling their chips and just sit there tweedling their thumbs in between hands.

Re: Difference between live and internet players....
learned this last weekend that i have to make more $$$$ from great hands or the nuts on the turn and river... bear in mind this was only my second time bricks-n-mortar.
i was putting money in too fast and losing players. so eventually when i had a really good flush on the river, i'd look at the board pretending i was sick to my stomach. not overly so, more an underlying frustration, and so i would eventually throw in the bet very weakly.... the fish smell weakness (Who knows? maybe i'm a fish too) and get in there, hello mr. raise and i've just pocketed an extra $60.... not sure how often that would work, but i had tight/aggressive image so even if they catch on to my acting i don't think i'm costing myself any $$$$$. and then maybe i can work a bluff although they really worry me (fancy play syndrome backfire on me). the other thing that i'll have to do is check sometimes with nut and just hope a couple of people bet out. had a maniac to my left and didn't take advantage (in fact, when i bet out on river he basically pulled his money back i.e. his hand was going to put the $$$$$ in and then his brain finally registered that i'd called. and the forcefulness of his action made everyone else fold, so that cost me anywhere from $36 to $60.. BTW, i was playing 6-12 limit. |
