A very common situation; advice?

You raise or reraise an early position player or limper with a decent pocket pair (99-KK), get a call out of the big blind as well as the epp, and flop contains exactly 1 overcard. Either the blind or the epp bets into you on the flop, and there may or may not be a flush draw.

What is the correct play?

For example, an epp limps and you raise with JJ, the big blind calls and the epp calls. The flop comes A92. The epp bets into you. What is correct long term strategic play?

Here is another example. A player UTG raises and you reraise with QQ and only the UTG calls. The flop comes K96 and he leads into you. What is the correct play?

You don't have the option to: raise, bet the turn, check behind on the river - which can be the best play.

Also, this kind of situation can have tons of variables so it's impossible to have a standard line. If we're not last to act postflop, it can change the correct line. If it's 3way instead of headsup it will be a different line. Player reads will affect the correct line. It's probably better to post specific hands instead of a general situation.

A line involving checking the turn in position usually isn't correct, no matter what we did on the flop. If we raised the flop, it was because we think the villain may be betting a worse made hand or a draw. So, we still need to bet the turn to get value/charge for his draw. If we just called the flop and the villain checked the turn, it's probably because he has a worse hand, was scared of whatever card just came off, or was betting a draw on the flop. We should bet for value/charge draws. On the river when he checks to you, you decide if your bet has value. If he bets, you make an odds calculation and make your decision.
