Default Question About Splitting A Pot???

I would like to know when a player splits the pot and when he dose not. For ex. two players left heads up. Player 1 has A-2 and player 2 has A-6. The board pairs A’s for both players. Player 1 has A’s with a 2 kicker and Player 2 has A’s with a 6 kicker. As I know it Player 2 with the bigger kicker wins the pot. But some times I have seen the two players split the pot and I would like to know when this happens, when having the bigger kicker is canceled out and the two players split the pot.

If two players has low kickers it is very likely that they will not get used since the board contains higher cards.

Default Re: Question About Splitting A Pot???

If the boards 5 cards are all higher than either of the players kickers they will split the pot. Example follows.
Player A: As-5d
Player B: Ad-3c
Board: Ah-Kh-Ts-8s-6c
As you can see the lowest card on the board is the 6c, which is still higher than Player A's 5d and Player B's 3c. This would cause a split pot.
