how do you eat your lettuce?
when i eat salads, i just stuff the lettuce in my mouth.. i've noticed that a lot of my friends actually cut up the lettuce. this is practical and probably proper since it's sort of boorish to have huge pieces of lettuce sticking out of your mouth. what do you guys do?

Re: how do you eat your lettuce?
usually in salads the lettuce is already cut to a size that seems proper for eating without using a knife to cut it smaller. wtf ?

Re: how do you eat your lettuce?
I stuff the pieces of lettuce into my mouth unless they are so huge that it would be impossible to do so without getting dressing all over my face and looking silly.
Highly recommended. |

Re: how do you eat your lettuce?
This would be a decently interesting poll. I'd say about a third of people cut up the salad. I'm a stuffer, though.

Re: how do you eat your lettuce?
Some salads, like Caesar salads, are often made with full lettuce leaves. In that case, I cut them. Sometimes you can roll them up on your fork, too. When I make them at home, I tear them into bite sized pieces.
I'm not worried so much about the lettuce sticking out of my mouth, though that's not a bad thing to worry about. It's that lettuce flapping about either in my mouth or on a fork always seems to make a drop of dressing get on my shirt. I can't even guess how many ties and shirts I've ruined that way. |

Re: how do you eat your lettuce?
I stuff; however, if the pieces are big, I just fold and stuff. I don't think I've ever cut lettuce.
