Default Underage...poker?

Has anyone experienced getting "carded" at a casino?

I usually play online but would like to give B&M a shot some weekend. I'm an old looking 20--anyone think I'm gonna be stopped?

I'd hate to make the drive and then get turned away cause of some silly law...

Wouldn't you hate it if you won, and maybe someone at the table on tilt then questioned your age. Wait, I don't think it is worth the drive and risk.

Before I turned 21 I played at an 18 and over cardroom. I got carded twice in six months.

Even worse situation: what if you hit the bad beat jackpot?? They won't pay you if you're under 21, and I think they have to see your ID to pay you (they do at my cardroom). They also have to see your ID to pay you for high hand of the day, etc.

So look for an 18 and over or hone your play online for a few months.

If you're talking about AC you shouldn't have a problem. I don't know about elsewhere. Back when I was <21 I never had a problem there.

FWIW, I've been carded playing blackjack and roulette, but never poker.

jedmb brings up a good point - if possible, probably wise to avoid the games with jackpots and bonuses.

As a young looking 24 year old who has been playing extensively in different locales for 3 years I may have some useful advice:

Places not to play:
Indian Casinos including Foxwoods, Casino Arizona, Sandia
Tunica
Hawaiian Gardens
Chicago Area including Harrahs
I have been carded at these places almost everytime I've played.

Places to play:
Taj Mahal
Bellagio
Commerce
Hollywood Park

I've been to these places multiple times and have not been carded with the exception of the Sports Book at the Bellagio.

If you go, walk straight to the poker room. Do not wander through other gaming areas. Play at least 10-20 and act like you've been there before. Tip the floorman who seats who.

P.S. They will not take your money if you get carded after you have been playing. Politely explain that you left your wallet in your hotel and they will ask you to leave.

Yes, Matt D's advice is the best. I'm a young looking 20 year old, and I get carded so often that it really gets on my nerves... errr, wait.. I'm breaking the law...

Not to encourage such behavior, but the postscript there is the most important piece of information.

That can't be right. The other players should still have received their share of the jackpot. And if they didn't they should get their $1 per pot (10 cents per pot each) back for the night. They didn't have anything to do with an underage player being at their table. If this is true it really pisses me off to no end.
