Abdul\'s preflop strategy for tight tables
Now that the Ex-Skins 1/2 full has truly become a rock garden (unless you're really good with game selection and like to wait), I've been wondering whether it's time to mix up my pre-flop play a bit more. I'm raising much more liberally in EP and often stealing the blinds with hands such as 77 and ATs, and 4 or 5 off the button with AT and KJ. However, I'm also stealing a lot of blinds with my big PPs, and I'm wondering if I should be mixing in some EP limps and limp-reraises.
For reference, a copy of Abdul's pre-flop strategy is located here: http://www.flg.se/poker/abdul_preflop.htm Abdul offers the following Tight Game opening strategy: Raise and call 2: QQ JJ TT KQs KTs JTs Raise and call 1: 77 QJs KJs AQ AJ Limp-reraise / raise & call: AKs AQs AK Limp & call 1: 66 55 A9s A8s A7s KQ Limp-reraise: AA KK 99 88 AJs ATs I'm not so worried about "mixing it up" because the opponents I'm facing seem to be just tight, not overly thinking players or anything. However, I think limp-reraising has merit at these tables to allow some of the tighter players to come in with hands like JTs, Axs, etc., especially if the blinds are tight, and there is no real donk on the table to cold-call. What do you guys think? |

Re: Abdul\'s preflop strategy for tight tables
I think your on the right track if a tight game is the only game in town.
However this is the Intertron, and there are plenty of easy games out there. I haven't fully looked at this chart yet, but I believe it could have merit if your serious about learning how to play like this. I'm sure the obscene rakeback that's keeping you there will help in your endeavors. Thanks for the link btw, I'm a firm believer in Abdul's work. |

intertron [/ QUOTE ] wow, that's a really great word. Also, to OP, you can find some pretty sweet RB deals elsewhere as well, don't be afraid to move arounda bit. Also, there is some merit to mixing it up in a tight game. |

Re: Abdul\'s preflop strategy for tight tables
I'm a big fan of Abdul's as well. Anyways, the reason I'm staying at the X-skins is that I want to learn how to beat a tighter game of better players, i.e. trying to simulate a higher-stakes game. I will play at Party as well, when I'm lazy and just want to run over loose opponents.

I am however a pioneer in it's usage, subject to dirty looks and babes wailing whenever I drop it. But I guess that's no different than any OTHER conversation I'm involved in... |

Re: Abdul\'s preflop strategy for tight tables
Beat the loose players while they are there, as you move up you will have plenty of time to play against tighter players. If you are interested in maximizing your winnings, play against the worst players possible.

Re: Abdul\'s preflop strategy for tight tables
Your not going to find a definition for it, but I'll tell you what it means. Sorry to Thread Hijack BTW.
Intertron-The living Internet. The internet where one goes to work, play, interact in a social setting. As opposed to the "Internet" where one goes to find information, which was the original intent for this place. |
