Default Limping JTo 6 max

Who does this and from what position. Why or why not? what reads are needed? or is it standard for you?

In late position, I usually limp these if there are callers before me and raise if I am first in.

OK, in the spirit of stu, I will give you one. If I have it in the BB and it limps to me, I will check. Happy?

Actually, in all seriousness, ask this question to a group of serious pros like Doyle or Ivey or whomever and they will tell you something similar to 'it depends'.

Above average players play situations, position, opponents, who's in already, who's left to act, what happened last hand, last 10 hands, history with certain opponents, what cards do I hold, etc.

Below average players just play their cards. (and ask questions like what do I do with xx unsuited)
