Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $2.

Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 bets</font>, CO calls, Button folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP2 folds, CO calls.

I don't like A8 from that early position. Rest seemed pretty standard. Tough luck.

Here at 2+2 we like to bet the river when four to a flush hits, pretty much regardless of what we hold.

Jason_T explained the reason very well in an earlier post by Private Joker: checking let's villain play the river perfectly.

Why not bet the flop, hoping MP2 will raise, making everybody else face two bets cold? Pot's already too big to slowplay. I could see slowplaying if it was a rainbow flop. Admittedly, this is an area where I struggle.

First error is limping in UTG with A8s.

Secondly, MP2 will most likely be the one to raise if you bet on the flop hence forcing signle high hearts out by other players. It is tempting to checkraise flushing trips but protect your hand instead of making it profitable for others to stay in.
