big blind special (5-5NL)
5-5NL live: game is playing very straightforward but we are playing deep. 6 handed
villain: $1300 (he is a very tight predicatble player) me: covers (normally I'm aggressive, but last few downs I've been playing relatively straightforward.) 4 limpers, i check in the BB w/K6o. Flop: ($25) K - J - 2 rainbow. I lead for $20, tight player makes it $50. folded back to me, i think for a little and make it $175. He calls. Turn: ($375) J, rainbow. I lead for $225. . . . |

BB special is when you get a free play and flop the gadget...
this hand is just "special"... |

Re: big blind special (5-5NL)
What are you trying to represent? A tight player could have limped 22 or JJ. Does he not raise pf with AK? Maybe you can get a weak/tighties to fold AK there.

Re: big blind special (5-5NL)
On the flop you are representing every 2 pair and 22. On the turn you are no longer repping K2, since its counterfitted.
I think we need to know what position he limped from. If he was on button we probably can include KJs in his range for limping. If he was EP I think thats out the door, but 22 and JJ are possible, and even KK if he was limp-raising. You're not getting the villain off any boat I don't think, so I dont particularly like the turn bet. Do you really think he would have called the flop with just a king w/good kicker? If the answer yes, well than thats the one and only hand you are getting him off of I think. I don't particularly like it, but if I were there, and I knew more about the player and this particular hand, I can see it being +EV. |

Re: big blind special (5-5NL)
I think a check-raise on the turn would've been better. I don't see him folding on the turn to that bet after his call on the flop.
Out of curiousity, where was this? Kirk |

But he wasn't the type of player to min-raise w/two pair or bettter. Usually he would smooth call or start puming the pot. Most likely smooth-call behind. just wondering if you were in villain's shoes and would u continue playing this hand if you had a big king? p.s. sorry to get back late, work has 2p2 blocked. |

Re: big blind special (5-5NL)
i don't like check-raising here as my hand range is still pretty wide for him to call me down w/position w/these stacks IMO.
