Default I need affirmation that this was the right play

$12 buy-in tournament. The top 6 cash. There are 7 left.

I have just survived the blinds going through me and am on the bottom, one of two short stacks. The other is currently in the BB. We both have about 6K and the blind are 1800 and 3600.

UTG pushes all-in. I look down at AKo. The others fold to me. I called and go out 7th. 1 spot out of the money, which would have paid $36 ... First was $225ish. He had 77.

I had to call here, right? I don't care that I was on the bubble. My goal is to win. Sure it is probably +EV overall to fold and try to get some kind of profit out of the tournament.

You answered your own question. No way you can lay this down here.

You should have been pushing 2 high cards and any ace way earlier, when you were around 15k. Calling with this AK was easily correct though.

A)You're assuming I didn't.

B)Doing that is why I was shorstacked in the first place.

yea its a call mainly because of the blinds. if you however had a stack that could have carried you over to the money, and he had you covered, then it would be a fold.
