Wow, the most common way for people to die is by shooting themselves. It even beats car accidents.

If you banned guns, would the suicide rate go down? I've always wondered if there was a millisecond of thought that goes through people's minds when they are killing themselves of "oh [censored], wait." Sort of a millisecond of clarity about what they are really doing. Take the people who jump off of buildings for instance-- I wonder if, after they jump, a lot of them sort of wish they could take it back on the way down.

The gun lets you make the decision so fast, especially if the gun is around. You can go in the other room, load up your gun and bam. With no guns, there would have to be a little bit of a project involved-- nobody wants to poison themselves or experience a lot of pain so they would have to go jump off of a building or something. That would take a lot of time to go do and maybe people wouldn't kill themselves just because they had some time to think about it beforehand.
