I am in a $50,000 tournament online tonight, is this the right strat
strategy?
I have been playing poker for about 6 months and am improving all the time. First time I played was at a casino tournament and I came 2nd out of 110 people are won $1000. That got me really interested in the game. I have been doing ok on the internet - a bit better than even on the poker online tournaments. I don't play the cash tables which some people say is where the money is to be made. I won a tournament with 170 people in during the week to win a seat in a $50k tournament tonight. I was just wondering if the following strategy is the right to use - I am planning on playing tight, playing top 15 hands sort of thing - i.e. AA, AK, Ax suited and any pairs I will at least see the flop as long as its fairly cheap. If I do make it into the later stages I will not be able to play so tight because the blinds obviously become very high. I don't want to get swallowed up. Is this the right strategy to play? Thanks |

Eh, I'm not an expert on these tournaments but playing TAG poker doesn't necessarily mean limiting yourself to these few hands. Expand your hands-played when you're in position, and try to mix it up.
Don't go in with a set mindset of every hand you're going to play. Maybe to start off, levels 1,2,3, kinda like in football when the first 10 or 15 plays are scripted. But after that, go with the flow. The_Missile |
