99 UTG 6max
A friend of mine and I are having a bit of a disagreement over how to play this hand. Would appreciate some imput on this one.
Absolute 6max, 1/2. I'm under the gun and I've got pocket nines. I raise. TAG to my immediate left reraises. Average player next to act caps. Folded back to me. Call two or fold? |

Re: 99 UTG 6max
There are 10.5 SB in the pot right now, and there's definitely going to be one more. You're going to fold 99 getting 11.5:2? Call, but be ready to turbo muck any flop that doesn't have a 9 in it.

Re: 99 UTG 6max
That's what I said. My 20/40 playing associate says that this is a fold for the reasons that we will only continue if the flop has a 9 and sometimes that 9 will be up against a bigger set, making the call -EV. I told him he was a loony.

[/ QUOTE ] There are three questions to ask your friend: 1) How big of a pot does he expect by the end of the hand? 2) How often is "sometimes... against a bigger set"? 3) Does he know how to properly compute EV? As long as the parameters chosen are reasonable. This should come out +EV from the point of the preflop call. |

Re: 99 UTG 6max
Pretty standard call with any pair once you've put two bets in.
