in a stud tourney this is a marginal play. once you get called on fourth street you shoudl bet fifth but once he calls you have to slow down i think. not like a ring game where you would keep betting since you cant go into your pocket.

I figured he was in a perfect spot to try to steal. He'd either fold or I could get a free card on 4th.

I took 6th as a real positive. I was thinking he has a pair of 9s which I'm now beating.

Fair enough. As for your choices:
1) He didn't fold, which tells you what?
2) As for the free card - how do you figure? You both have medium cards, which means its a potential coinflip as to who will act first on 4th. This is not a good time to try for a freebie. In fact, in your hand, you acted first. What about that free card you were thinking about when you raised and he didn't fold?

1.) He's stubborn or he has a pair, probably 9s.
2.) I should have said I would take a free card if I bricked. But since I caught a high card and a four flush so I think that makes me a significant favorite over any hand I could reasonably put him on.
