10/20NL,5-handed, all-in on the flop with KK
No-Limit Hold'em, $20 BB (5 handed)
Hero ~($2100) SB ~($2000) CO ~(2400$) CO is (24/8 after~250 hands). He has been playing fairly aggro on this session. I have played about 70-80 hands on this session. I haven't caught any real hands and I have been folding a lot. I made once a bluff attempt but got caught by CO(I lost ~550$) Preflop: Hero is on Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG Folds, CO Bets(80$), Hero Re-raises (240$), SB Calls(240$),BB Folds, CO Calls(160$) Flop: ($740) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB Checks, CO Leads $420 I don't like it when someone leads to me when I have re-raised pre-flop. It might be a set, QQ, flush draw A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or even lower pocket pair testing the waters. I decide to min-raise (840$. SB folds quickly and CO moves in. I have 1k$ left and I can't fold. I call the all-in bet and hope that I'm ahead. Any thoughts? -Fuzzy Logic |

Any thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] yeah, your minraise sucks. this seems like a fold unless the guy is a player who can take shots, alot. even then, you prob. arent much of a fav. against the hands he could be dicking around with. most of the time he has a set, two pair, or a st. fl. draw to be making this move. you have to put him squarely on QQ or a flush draw to go any further. so if you think he has those, push. what the hell is this minraise crap? |

Re: 10/20NL,5-handed, all-in on the flop with KK
Do you really think AJs calls your reraise? Basically, if this guy's any good he knows your reraise and minraise on the flop are signs of a monster and doesn't seem daunted. This is not often a bluff either, since he knows it's very tough to lay down overpairs after the pot's gotten this big.
So basically, the only conceivable hand he has here for you to call with is QQ, and chances are pretty slim that he's going broke with QQ facing a reraise preflop and raise on the flop. Again, this is all assuming he's reasonably good. If he isn't, it's more likely he has QQ, but still I would expect to see a set or aces much more often than QQ. |

Easy call. Not the best board but the hand pretyy much plays itself out.

Re: 10/20NL,5-handed, all-in on the flop with KK
I think it is possible CO having a bit wider range of hands since SB called my RR.
So when CO leads I should just fold my KK here? Is that just so easy? I admit it, I am not good folding big hands and too often I go bust with AA/KK if someone hits hard against me. |

fsu nailed this one. It's a slightly ahead/way behind situation.
Tons of people can't lay down AA/KK. Usually I am one of them. Work on it. |

Re: 10/20NL,5-handed, all-in on the flop with KK
what do you hope to accomplish with this minraise and are hands that you want to fold ever going to fold to this?
the fact that you are prepared to call a push after your minraise means that you should be raising more if you're going to raise, i.e. all-in. |

[ QUOTE ] Do you really think AJs calls your reraise? [/ QUOTE ] Do people really fold AJs here? [/ QUOTE ] Out of position, I think AJs is an obligatory fold. The only way you can hit your hand and be comfortable with it if there's any action whatsoever is if you flop two pair, trips, or the nut flush draw. This doesn't happen enough to call a reraise. AJs is not a hand you want to play a big pot in, especially not out of position. I have some pretty loose short-handed preflop standards-when you take into account villain being a 28/4 the chances of him having AJ here are not very high. |
