Party/skins: (connection is poor) (connection lost) (internet delays

Literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I PLAY I experience this at least once. I laboriously load my 14 tables and get everything running smoothly for awhile, and then it starts:
(connection is very good) turns to connection is good, poor, lost, internet delays 12 seconds, 14 seconds, etc., trying to reconnect, action keys become frozen on the few tables that are still functioning, etc. This is really a nightmare.

It is either the fault of the sites or my ISP (I have a cheapo dial-up connection). I'd like to know if other prople are experiencing this and if there is any cure and if it would be just as bad or worse if I were running multiple prima sites rather than party sites.

Any feedback on this situation would be greatly appreciated--thank you!

Try the hardware/tech forum. You might get better responses. 14 tables, that might be the problem right there. If you computer is even slightly slow processing that much info from the same source, it's going to show a slow connection.

I originally posted this on the tech help forum--no replies, which leads me to believe it is my ISP rather than Party/skins.

When I was running my 14 tables + multi-table-help-program + pokertracker + pokerace HUD, my CPU was running at 100% all the time.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped running pokertracker and pokeraceHUD. Now the CPU runs at about 50% capacity; and the failing connection problem is about the same as it was when I was running the works at 100%.

My dialup connection speed is 28.8 kb/s. I am perplexed. Thanks.

Your 28.8K dialup connection is crap. Get a cable modem or DSL, if at all possible. If you are playing 12 tables at once, you certainly ought to be able to afford it.

Your modem can receive 28,800 bits of data per second. My cable modem can receive 4,000,000 bits per second. Well worth the $45 per month it costs me, and it frees up my phone line as well.
