Stars - see 4th %?
This is in regard to the PokerStars stud 1/2 tables where the ante is .10. What is a reasonable percentage of hands to see 4th street. I'm usually at 25 - 30%. This seems like a decent percentage, but at holdem I'm usually playing 20% or less, so I'm just wondering if 25-30 is generally seen as being loose?

Bout 30% sounds right.

This sounds too high - most of the players I know that win at the game consistently are at 20% or less. I suspect that I am usually 18% to 20% and there are several posters here who think I am too loose.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm far from being an expert but I have a hard time thinking that seeing 4th street only 18-20% of the time is too loose. You're going to be the bring-in at least 12.5% of the time and a lot of those times (at least at $1/2) you won't be raised by someone. That doesn't leave many more hands you voluntarily play even with Stars' comparitively low ante. Now I consider myself to be a pretty tight player--I try to stick to Zee's recommended starting hands. So FWIW, I requested the last 2000 hand stats from Stars. 1624 of which were stud/8 hands, all at $1/2. saw 4th street: 435 times (26%) Which was just a little higher than I expected. I can't easily determine my win rate over that period, but it's definitely up by a decent amount (insert necessary sample size and variance caveats). So I think it largely boils down to your style of play and what your opponents are like as opposed to trying to target a certain % range. |

Re: Stars - see 4th %?
Some of Zee's starting hands may be fine for party 1/2, but it's too lose for the low ante 1/2 stars game as well as the 2/4 party games.
Zee's guide was meant for stud with a bigger ante. Also keep in mind that you have to beat the rake, which is sizable in low limit stud 8. You have to throw away some marginal hands if your edge isn't enough to pay the rake, esp at tough tables. |

Re: Stars - see 4th %?
25-30% is too loose at this structure (with the small ante), unless your opponents are very weak-tight and you can push them off of a lot of hands. 18-21% is a better range in a good game (6+ BB avg pot, 45%+ to 4th).

What’s the bring-in? [/ QUOTE ] At $1/2 on Stars the bring-in is $0.50, ante $0.10. |
