Default AK hits TPTK on dangerous board, 50NL

First post, just had a hand which got me thinking about a situation which often comes up in raised and reraised pots. Perhaps it's standard -- if so, I'd like to hear what the standard is. I sat down just a few orbits ago, so all I have on villain is 28/17 in 20 hands, for what it's worth.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Button ($71.95)
SB ($34.80)
BB ($50)
Villain ($62.25)
MP ($49.25)
Hero ($38.75)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
Villain raises to $2, MP calls $2, Hero raises to $8, 3 folds, Villain calls $6, MP folds.

Flop: ($18.75) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Villain checks, Hero bets $18, Villain raises to $36, Hero calls $12.75 (All-In).

Turn: ($85.50) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($85.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $85.50

I potted the dangerous flop almost as a reflex. Then felt I was too pot-committed to fold. But after thinking about it, the only hand I'm beating is probably QQ (though I do need to bet if he has QQ).

The thing that is standard here is that when you have all broadway flops and all you have is top pair, be very very careful. You can bet once, but if you get played back at, you are almost always behind.

This is the worst flop ever given PF action. TT, JJ and KK all are beating you pretty bad, AA and AQ have you crushed. KQ and QQ are drawing very live. Check behind, consider folding if he bets the turn but maybe you can find a call somewhere in there.

I might just call pre-flop and let my positional advantage play from there.

Welcome to the forums with your first post.

PREFLOP: I'd make a more modest raise. More like a $4 bet.

As played...

FLOP: Since Villian called your big raise, you might not be good on this straight coordinated all Broadway Board. The pot is so big now, I don't think you can protect your hand, and you might be behind anyway. Ya, you committed yourself to the pot. I'd bet $9, half the pot, and fold to a substantial raise.
