I just got through the blinds and I have 2700 left. Im a short stacked as the blinds are 400-800. Here is the situation, it's passed to me on the button I look down and see two red fours. I moved all in hoping to pick up the blinds and antes. The small blind was one of the chip leaders and woke up with pocket fives. Needless to say he called and the first card off was a five. So I finished 18th. My question is should I have waited for a better hand since I have a free round to work with or was moving in the only play I had.
Thanks in advance JW. |

If there was a decent chance you'd win the blinds uncontested, it's a must raise. If there was very little chance they'd both fold, then you should probably fold. Unless it is also highly likely that you will get called anytime you raise the blinds (as opposed to one or both of these particular players who you knew would be highly likely to defend).
