Got carried away?
80 left in the tourney, 60 get paid, 20+2 on party
Did I get carried away thinking I could get a call? What's a better value bet in this position... I'm just not used to being chip leader of the tourney I guess... Re: Got carried away?
I think he would have called you with any ace, and obviously any ten. So most likely it wouldn't have mattered whether you called or pushed...you probably weren't extracting more anyway.

Re: Got carried away?
I'm not much for slowplaying my big hands, but I would just call on the flop. Let him bet into you on the turn with air or his weak ace. Don't chase him off of a weak ace. Your line is better if he had raised and you called preflop.

Re: Got carried away?
it looks like 3600 is full-pot, not 2/3. A push is a little suspicious. SB has 16000 at the flop, so 12400 after his bet. The pot's 10800 if you just call. If you minraise he's at 9K with 18K in the pot.
Y'know, the party 20+2s are donkish enough that a minraise might work. |

Re: Got carried away?
I like the push, especially if you show your hand when he folds. There's a good chance he'll call with an A here, but regardless it is good advertising to the others not to mess with you. As top stack on the bubble, you'll get a lot of opportunities to push draws or just put a guy to a tough decision. Doing that here and then showing a big hand will probably buy you some fold equity later, and just generally discourage others from challenging you (and your blinds) in the first place.

Re: Got carried away?
I like the reverse psycology of pushing here. Standard for me would be to flat call here. Let him think that I am stubbornly holding on to 66.

Re: Got carried away?
i agree with others to call. there's too much of a chance he'll fold a smallish A, given that he is near the chip lead and you're near the money.
calling also has the advantage that you might get him to call a small bet on the end with a hand like 66 that he would insta-fold now. |

Re: Got carried away?
Ok, well this time he folded. I think next time I should raise a little more than a min raise and hope for a call.
