Default First time EVER playing online.

Hi. So I've never played poker online before but I tried out an instant bankroll promotion at party poker. What the hell, $75 free money.

So I sit down at $0.50/$1.00 kinda nervous and ready to play TAG and honest. My plan: grind it out, hit, then get paid off. This worked in the beginning but I have this pattern of win a big pot (10BB) then slowly lose it again... Win another big pot, then slowly lose it again. Up and down and up and down. I was up as much as 50 big bets in my first 400 hands, but I dropped back down to 30, after I sat at a table too long and 2 better players got reads on me. (I left)

I don't have poker tracker but do these (ghettto) partypoker stats tell u anything? Thanks for any input.

First Ever Session:

Hands Played: 452
Hands Won: 16%
Showdowns Won: 64%

Flops Seen: 47%
Win% if flops seen: 33%

Nothing. Going up 30BBs in 462 hands is actually doing really good if you compare to the long run winrate. Get pokertracker ASAP, or at least get the trial and keep a record.

Hi, looks to me like youve been running way HOT and experiencing the positive side of variance....watch out cos the negative sucks. Your winning SD% of 64 is high and winning 16% of the time is goot for 10seat ring....very tough to maintain these numbers over any reasonable period of time unfortunately

The main indicator here is that your saw flop of 47% is way too high. you need to tighten up considerably preflop....I recommend getting a starting hand chart and going from there.

gl

ps these comments assume mostly full 10 seat ring...

Yah, most 10-ring game. I agree my flops seen is very high, but I am playing nut flush draws and suited connectors more than say AT cuz it's low limit with chasers everywhere. Anyway, here's my stats with the demo version of Pokertracker

Ah, I bet you're playing in the Beginners tables. Man, those things are great. Loosest, worst players online. I wish I could get back into them.

Assuming your VPIP is accurately converging (which we'd need a few thousand more hands to determine), you should be playing about half of the hands that you're playing preflop, especially since you're just starting out and might not have that much of a postflop skill edge. Do you use some sort of pf chart?

VPIP looks high, but maybe you've been running hot so played lots of nice hands.

At the risk of sounding like a n00b, what is the instant bankroll promotion at PP and how long is it going on for? I have only played EP and have never created a PP account ...

If your going to play poker for a while, Dont do it.
Chip in $10 play micros, work your way up, learn the game, go to party with $500 or so to clear full bonus and get a RAKEBACK DEAL.

Thats my advice anyhow.
